The ICC has appointed Shahid Afridi as the ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Shahid Afridi has been named the newest Ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, joining a distinguished group that includes Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, and Usain Bolt. Afridi, who has competed in six T20 World Cups and was instrumental in Pakistan’s 2009 victory, will play a key role in promoting the tournament and offering expert insights.

Afridi expressed his excitement about the event, emphasizing the importance of the tournament and particularly highlighting the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match on June 9 in New York. He also noted the tournament's growth and the increasing excitement surrounding more teams and matches.

Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager, praised Afridi's remarkable T20 career and his crucial role in Pakistan's 2009 success. Afridi’s inclusion in the Ambassador team, alongside other notable figures, aims to engage fans and enhance their experience of the tournament.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 20 teams competing across nine venues. The tournament will kick off on June 1 with the USA facing Canada in Texas and will include a total of 55 matches, culminating in the final on June 29 in Barbados.
